Place des Canadiens (Bretteville l'Orgueilleuse)
Place des Canadiens (Bretteville l'Orgueilleuse)

A maple leaf in homage... A place with multiple uses, including that of a place of memory and commemoration, represented in particular through the maple leaf, symbol of Canada. It evokes the advance of Canadian troops at Bretteville l'Orgueilleuse, in June 44 from the landing beaches of Juno Beach in Courseulles. This symbol is found at ground level, in the choice of plant species, and also through the lighting: the mast is studded with maple leaves which rise to the heights and light up in the evening.
